‘Running on Empty’ Australia Day Special

The worst drought in 100 years, coupled with a heat wave and temperatures in the high 40s. It’s a recipe for disaster and it’s struck the heart of Queensland cattle country, with farmers at breaking point and stock and wildlife dropping like flies.

It doesn’t sound like the makings of an entertaining yarn, but was actually an uplifting and timely story told on Australia Day.

Queensland Weekender host Dean Miller spends a week with the Kinnon family out of Longreach to tell this story.

TPD Media produced this farm stay experience with a difference, in homage to bush resilience despite an ongoing battle against the elements.
